Goodbye winter DIY Hair Masks.

August 22, 2018

It’s finally almost time to say GOODY-BYE to winter, and we don’t know about you, but boy are we glad, shu!

Our hair is often more damaged during and after winter due to the drop in temperatures and lack of upkeep and styling on a daily basis. We would much rather just wear a protective style, a wig or a hat than deal with our hair during winter, right? So, because our hair is more prone to lack of hydration, and a dry scalp with dull brittle hair as a result during this time, we have decided to put together some homemade masks for you to try in preparation for spring.

  1. Nourishing Banana Mask

You will need:

1 x banana

1 x egg

5 x tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil or MPL Olive Oil Moisturiser

Mash or blend banana until really smooth, then add egg yolk and extra virgin olive oil. Mix very well then apply mixture on your hair. Measure quantity according to your hair length and thickness. Make sure that you spread mixture from the roots to the tips throughout your hair, then twist it into a loose bun. Then cover with a shower cap and leave for a minimum of 20 minutes. You will get better results if you leave in for longer, up to 30-40 minutes. Rinse with warm water after desired time and use shampoo and conditioner as usual.

2. Protein boosting Mask

2 x eggs

1 x tablespoon of honey

2 x tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil or MPL Olive Oil Moisturiser

2 x tablespoons of mayonnaise or your favourite conditioner

Mix eggs, honey, olive oil and conditioner in a bowl until smooth. Spread mixture well and leave in for 20 minutes or more. Rinse hair with warm water and style as desired.

3. Vitamin Hair Mask

1 x egg yolk

1 x tablespoon vitamin E oil capsule or MPL Vitamin E Hair Oil

2 x tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil or MPL Olive Oil Moisturiser

Mix everything well and apply the mixture to your hair. Put on shower cap and then wrap with towel. Leave the hair mask for about 2 hours, then wash as usual. Use several times until you see shinier and stronger hair.

4. Dry and Damaged Hair Mask

1 x egg

1 xx tablespoon of apple cider vinegar

2 x tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil or MPL Olive Oil Moisturiser

Beat the egg with apple cider vinegar, then add the olive oil. Massage the mixture with circular movements, into your scalp and untangle your hair with a wide-tooth comb. Leave the mask in for 15 minutes then wash your hair with shampoo and condition. Repeat again after 3 weeks.

5. Split ends Mask

2 x tablespoons of avocado or MPL Coconut oil

1 x tablespoon of honey

1 x tablespoon of apple cider vinegar

Mix avocado or coconut oil with honey and apple cider vinegar. Apply the mixture evenly from root to tip and wash after 30 minutes. Use shampoo and conditioner.

Happy hydrating.
