Growing Healthy Long Relaxed Hair

I’ve recently started a YouTube channel “Kory Li Shukrani”, where I’ve gone into hair blogging! Here are some of my top tips for growing healthy long relaxed hair. 

 

 

 

Healthy diet and lifestyle

 

You know that saying “You are what you eat”? Well, the exact same thing goes for your hair! Nourishment has to come from the inside and what you put into your body also matters as much as what products you put in your hair. If you are serious about growing your hair, then you should also be serious about what you are feeding your body and be sure to get in foods that help your hair thrive! These foods include: nuts, eggs, salmon, chia and flax seeds, sweet potatoes and avocado, to name a few. It is also believed that exercise helps your hair grow due to the blood circulation.

 

Water, water and more water!

 

To echo my first point, what you put into your body (or not) can be just as crucial what the products you use on your hair. Our hair definitely needs more moisture in order to thrive and that includes ingesting it! Think of your hair as a plant, it you don't water it, it won’t grow.

 

Taking it back to the roots

 

Because your hair grows at the roots, it’s really helpful to stimulate your scalp to initiate growth. It’s good to spritz it with water and an MPL Hair Oil of your choice and massage your scalp to stimulate growth. There are a few examples of quick fixes to this for fast growth, such as the inversion method, but I really believe that a consistent yet simple effort gets the job done just fine!

 

Your ends are your friends

 

Don’t believe anything else, your hair can certainly grow long and be healthy! The only reason you might not be seeing the growth is due to breakage and this is probably happening on your ends. Your ends are the oldest part of you hair and most often the most susceptible to breakage because of their contact on clothing, so they need some extra TLC. I like to moisturise and seal my ends about 3 times a week. The MPL Olive Hair Oil moisturiser would be perfect for this.

 

 

Deep conditioning

 

Finally, one of the biggest elements of healthy hair growth, deep conditioning! Basically what this means allowing conditioning of the hair to more deeply penetrate the hair shaft but letting sit in the hair for longer. Ideally, you want to use a product specifically marked as a deep conditioner, like the MPL Ayurvedic Oil, that is especially designed to strengthen your hair (and ultimately prevent breakage). For even more effective penetration, add heat to the equation, which can be done by sitting under the dryer, or adding a deep-conditioning cap or beanie.
